Stores are getting ready for the iPhone 5 release

Stores are getting ready for the iPhone 5 release and will be expecting huge crowds all weekend long. Many folks are ready lining up by the front door at numbeious Apple locations throughout the United States for Friday’s debut of the iPhone 5. Some have been camping out since Sept 13th and are waiting night and day for this new cell phone to hit the shelvfs. If you wish to get your hands on one of these high demand devices, you better get in line before it’s too late!

Stores are getting ready for iPhone 5 release on FridayHawaii’s Apple Stores and wireless retailers are preparing for early morning crowds on Friday when Apple’s iPhone 5 goes on sale to the general public.

The iPhone 5 will be available at the three Apple Stores in Honolulu — at Ala Moana Center, Kahala Mall and Royal Hawaiian Center — as well as at AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless stores throughout the state.

The Apple stores will open earlier than normal — at 8 a.m. on Friday. The AT&T, Sprint and Verizon stores may open even earlier — some told PBN they will open at 7 a.m.

Despite the earlier-than-normal store opening times, lines outside of the Apple Stores at the mails will start even earlier — Royal Hawaiian Center at 5 a.m. and Kahala Mall at 6 a.m. — and lines are expected to be long throughout the day.

Parking is free at Ala Moana Center and Kahala Mall. Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) worked with Royal Hawaiian Center and its parking company, Standard Parking, to offer a $5 special event parking flat rate for iPhone customers, for up to 10 hours. Normally, the center’s parking lot offers shoppers one hour free, and three additional hours at $1 per hour. But customers might be in line to buy an iPhone for more than 4 hours.

“Apple is very, very concerned that that might not be enough time for their customers,” said Royal Hawaiian Center Marketing Director Sam Shenkus. “They are projecting that there will be lines all day long, into the evening.”
