First-ever trip to Hawaii by a Disney Cruise Line

Can you believe a First-ever trip to Hawaii by a Disney Cruise Line, I’m still thinking to myself, “What took them so long?” But as the saying goes, “Better late than never! You would never want to miss out on a trip to Hawaii whatever vehicle gets you here, just be glad you made it! Some unlucky folks never make it to our lovely islands out here in the Pacific.

In the ever-increasing world footprint of Disney Cruise Line, the Disney Wonder made its first-ever call to Hawaii.

The Wonder, which has been based on the West Coast for the past two seasons is in the middle of a 15-night Hawaiian cruise with stops in Hilo, Hawaii; Kahului, Maui; Honolulu, Oahu; Nawiliwili, Kauai and Ensenada, Mexico.

A second, 14-night trip to the Aloha state is slated for Oct. 14 later this year out of the Port of Los Angeles.

The Hawaii trip marks yet another new destination for Disney Cruise Line. The line made its first trips to Alaska in 2011. Now with the line sporting four vessels, they’ve been spreading the Disney love to other ports as well.

“It’s a great thing about these ships,” Disney Cruise Line spokesperson Jonathan Frontado said. “We can take them to new destinations.”

The Wonder will begin sailing out of the Port of Seattle later this month for the first time for its second year of Alaskan itineraries before migrating back to Los Angeles for fall sailings to the Mexican Riviera. In December, though, the Wonder will migrate to the Port of Miami, marking the first time the cruise line will base a ship in a Florida port other than Port Canaveral. In 2013, the Wonder will return to Vancouver for a third season of Alaskan trips.

On the switch from Vancouver in 2011 to Seattle this year and back to Vancouver in 2013, Frontado said, “We’re just exploring different destinations and seeing how guests react. Where we’ll be in 2014 is hard to say.”

As for the rest of the fleet, the new Disney Fantasy and sister ship Disney Dream are still based out of their Orlando-area hub of Port Canaveral, but this month sees the Disney Magic migrating to New York City until this fall when it migrates to the Port of Galveston.

It will sail western Caribbean itineraries out of the Texas port until May 2013 when it heads back to Europe for sailings out of Barcelona.

If your thinking of visiting Hawaii any time soon, you now have an additional travel option, even if it’s your First-ever trip to Hawaii by a Disney Cruise Line. As the surfers say, “Enjoythe ride.”
